State Bar of Texas to honor Houston-area
attorneys, judges,
and associations at Annual Meeting
AUSTIN — The State Bar of Texas will honor exceptional service to the public and the legal profession during its Annual Meeting on June 22 and 23 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
The following Houston-area individuals and associations are among those being honored:

Houston Bar Association will receive two Star of Achievement awards from the State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee for its Pro Se Clinic Expansion project and its overall efforts toward Diversity, Equality and Inclusion from the LGBT Perspective.

Justice Harvey Brown, of the 1st Court of Appeals, will receive an Outstanding Mentor Award presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Judge Marc Carter, of the 228th District Court, will receive the Distinguished Jurist Award presented by the State Bar of Texas African American Lawyers Section.

Trey Apffel, of the Apffel Law Firm, will receive a Presidential Citation from the State Bar of Texas.

Marilyn D. McGuire, of Marilyn D. McGuire P.C., will receive the Frank J. Scurlock Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Legal Services Division.

Joel T. Towner, of Beck Redden LLP, will receive a TYLA President’s Award of Merit presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

Robin C. Gibbs, of Gibbs & Bruns LLP, will receive the Ronald D. Secrest Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation.

Robin Russell, of Andrews Kurth Kenyon LLP, will receive the Dan Rugeley Price Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation.

Warren W. Harris, of Bracewell LLP, will receive the Gregory S. Coleman Outstanding Appellate Lawyer Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation.

Julius Glickman will receive an Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation to attorneys whose practice spanned 50 years or more, and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.

Howard L. Nations, of Howard L. Nations Law Office, will receive an Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation to attorneys whose practice spanned 50 years or more, and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.

Otway B. Denny Jr., will receive an Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation to attorneys whose practice spanned 50 years or more, and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.

A. Martin Wickliff Jr., of Cozen O’Connor P.C., will receive the Trailblazer Award from the State Bar of Texas African American Lawyers Section.

Charles A. Beckham Jr., of Haynes and Boone LLP, will receive the Robert B. Wilson Distinguished Service Award from the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section.

David R. Eastlake, of Greenberg Traurig LLP, will receive the Romina L. Mulloy-Bossio Achievement Award from the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section.

Paul M. Janicke, of the University of Houston Law Center, will receive the Tom Arnold Lifetime Achievement Award from the State Bar of Texas Intellectual Property Law Section.

Andrea Tran will receive an Outstanding Mentor Award from the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.
