Steps and Costs
1. Our LRIS staff will first ask you for:
The county where you need assistance
Basic information about your legal issue
Your name, zip code and telephone number
In order to receive a referral from our service, we must have your
name, zip code and telephone number. This information is only shared
with the attorney we refer you to so that attorney knows you were
referred by the LRIS. We do not sell, rent or share your information
with anybody else.
2. Once we refer you to a lawyer, it is your responsibility to call
to make an appointment.
3. The lawyer we refer you to will provide you with a 30
minute consultation for no more than
$20.
The LRIS does not have any participating attorneys
who offer free or reduced fee legal assistance. After the initial
consultation, you should be prepared to pay a reasonable fee should
you
and the attorney decide to work together. Those fees will be
determined
by an agreement between you and the attorney. Make sure you
understand
completely what your lawyer will be charging you.
If you are in need of free or low cost legal assistance, please visit
www.TexasLawHelp.org for a listing of available
resources in your county.
