State Bar of Texas Immediate Past President Joe K. Longley has brought various issues to the forefront of the legal community.
As president-elect, Joe K. Longley formed two task forces.
In June 2018, Immediate Past President Joe K. Longley traveled to the border to learn more about about how the State Bar could promote access to justice and the rule of law related to the separation of immigrant families. A web page was created to list volunteer trainings and opportunities for those who would like to get involved in reuniting children with their parents.
On January 22, 2019, Immediate Past President Joe K. Longley submitted a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton requesting an opinion on the constitutionality of issues related to State Bar of Texas operations and elections.
