Stars of Texas Bars Awards

The Local Bar Services Committee is now accepting local bar association submissions for the annual Stars of Texas Bars Awards and Judge Sam Williams Award. These awards are an excellent opportunity for local bar associations to gain recognition for all they do on behalf of their members and the public. The Local Bar Services Department must receive all Stars of Texas Bars and Judge Sam Williams entries by 5:00 p.m. CST on April 24, 2026. All award entries and exhibits must be submitted on a flash drive or via email. For questions, please email localbars@texasbar.com or call 512.427.1514.

Winners will be honored at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the Marriott Marquis in Houston.

Each local bar association may submit entries for programs, events, or publications that occurred between May 1, 2025, and April 24, 2026.

The Stars of Texas Bars Awards include eight award categories that recognize local bar associations for outstanding community involvement, commitment to increasing access to justice, dedication to the legal profession, and excellent reporting. Each local bar association has the opportunity to receive awards based on its division. Divisions are broken down by the size of bar membership. 2025 Stars of Texas Bars Award Recipients

The State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee annually honors one individual who demonstrates a commitment to fostering and maintaining the relationship between his or her local bar association and the State Bar of Texas. Please review the Judge Sam Williams Award submission sheet for nomination criteria.

The award, established in 1990, is named in honor of Judge Sam Williams, the long-time president of the Northeast Texas Bar Association. Judge Williams, an outstanding leader of the local bar association, exemplified the highest ideals of the position and significantly contributed to maintaining the local bar association's relationship with the State Bar of Texas.
