Texas Gavel Awards

The Texas Gavel Awards recognize journalistic excellence that fosters public understanding of the legal system.

The program is sponsored by the State Bar of Texas Public Affairs Committee and judged by an independent panel that includes out-of-state editors and legal reporting experts.

Awards are presented annually at the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas (FOIFT) conference. This year's FOIFT conference is scheduled for Sept. 17 in Austin.
