Report Your MCLE Hours
As a Texas attorney, it is your responsibility to ensure your mandatory MCLE hours are accurately and timely reported to the MCLE Department by the end of your birth month.
Failure to timely report CLE credit hours could result in non-compliance penalties of $100, $200, or $300, and suspension of your law license with an additional $100 reinstatement fee.
While CLE providers are required to timely report attendance to the MCLE Department, they are not responsible for meeting individual attorney deadlines. Do not rely on the sponsor to report your MCLE hours if you are close to a deadline.
Your Notice via the MCLE Annual Verification Report
Your MCLE Annual Verification Report (AVR) will be mailed to you two months prior to your birth month. Please review the AVR carefully. If the AVR indicates that you have completed the required number of MCLE hours, no further action is needed.
If you have not completed or reported the minimum 15 hours of CLE, including 3 hours of ethics, by the last day of your compliance year, a reminder notice will be emailed and/or mailed to you at the beginning of your birth month. You will be given an automatic grace period up to the last day of your birth month to comply with MCLE requirements without penalty. If you do not complete and report at least 15 hours of CLE by the last day of your birth month, you will be in non-compliance and subject to penalty fees.
All CLE hours must be reported and received by the MCLE Director by the last day of the birth month according to MCLE Regulations. Hours reported after the last day of the birth month, even if completed earlier, will result in non-compliance fees.
How to Report Your Hours
Here are instructions to report your MCLE hours to the MCLE Department:
-
Report your hours online through your My Bar Page: You can report your MCLE hours by logging into your My Bar Page at texasbar.com. Click “View/Report MCLE Hours” to access your My MCLE portal. Then click “Add Attendance” to report new hours or scroll down and click “View Reported Attendance” to see the hours already recorded on your record.
-
Report hours using a QR Code: CLE providers are required to report attendance for attendees, but they are not responsible for meeting individual attorney deadlines. CLE providers may provide a QR Code for attorneys to use to report their own attendance. To use the QR Code, scan the code using the camera on your cell phone. Then tap the pop-up web address that appears on your phone screen. Log in using your State Bar login credentials. If you need a password reset, please contact the Membership Department at 512-427-1383. Once you have logged in, click “Add Attendance” and the course number will auto-populate. Revise the date attended and the CLE hours, if needed. Then click the box next to “You agree the requested credit is correct” and click “Submit”.
-
Report hours for Out-of-State courses that have not been accredited in Texas: If the course has already been accredited in Texas, request the course number from the CLE provider and use the “Add Attendance” button to report attendance for an out-of-state course. If the out-of-state course was attended live and the course has not been accredited in Texas, you can apply for out-of-state course accreditation by logging into your My Bar Page at texasbar.com. Click “View/Report MCLE Hours” and scroll down to “Courses Held Outside of Texas” to submit the application. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee for out-of-state course applications. Complete the application only if the course was attendance live in-person or live online. Out-of-state course applications submitted for on-demand courses will be denied and the fee will not be refunded.
-
Report hours for On-Demand courses. Attorneys can only report hours for on-demand courses if the course has been accredited in Texas by the CLE provider. If the on-demand course has already been accredited in Texas, request the course number from the CLE provider, and report attendance under the “Add Attendance” button. MCLE regulations prohibit individual attorneys from requesting accreditation for on-demand courses, through the out-of-state application. Course fees submitted under the out-of-state application are non-refundable.
