Dana D. Taylor
Taylor, 51, of
Odessa, died April 10, 2022. She received her law degree from Texas Tech
University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1999.
Taylor was the owner of Dana D. Taylor, Attorney at Law, from 2010 to
2022. She received the Newswest 9 and Odessa American best
attorney awards in 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020. Taylor is
remembered for loving her cat, Sam, and her husband, Bret, and for
visiting the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico. She is survived by her
husband of six years, attorney Bret Mansur; and her mother, Patricia
Taylor.
Charles Dick Harris
Harris, 70,
of Abilene, died January 11, 2022. He received his law degree from Texas
Tech University School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1977.
Harris was a partner in Young & Harris in Abilene, a partner in
Harris & McBeath in Abilene, and owner of the Law Office of Dick
Harris in Abilene. He was certified in consumer and business bankruptcy
law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a committee and panel
chair of the Panel 14D-2 State Bar Grievance Committee. Harris is
remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, and golf. He is survived by
his daughter, Laura Harris; and sisters, Cynthia Valcik and Patty
Torres.
Mike Manos
Manos, 81, of
Austin, died November 8, 2021. He received his law degree from the
University of Texas School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in
1967. Manos practiced law in Austin. He was a member of several
nonprofits, including the Enterprise Professional Services, an agency
maximizing employment for people with disabilities, and served in the
Austin Bar Foundation veterans legal assistance clinics. Manos received
a 50-Year Lawyer Award from the State Bar of Texas in 2017 and was
recognized by Texas Monthly as a Five Star Wealth Manager in
will preparation for Austin, San Antonio, and Central Texas. He is
survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria Manos; son, Mike Manos III;
sister, Athena Shawell; and one granddaughter.
Michael D. Stewart
Stewart,
72, of Missouri City, died March 1, 2020. He served in the National
Guard. Stewart received his law degree from the University of Texas
School of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1973. He was a
partner in Urban & Coolidge in Houston from 1973 to 1992. Stewart is
remembered for being a historian and philanthrope and loving seafood,
Galveston, and his family. Stewart is survived by his wife of 42 years,
Kathryn Stewart; son Michael D. Stewart II; daughter, Mary Grace Stewart
Wolf; and four grandchildren.
Hugo Alfred Touchy
Touchy, 96, of
Katy, died April 2, 2022. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1950 to
1953. Touchy received his law degree from the University of Houston
College of Law and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1956. He was an
assistant city attorney for the city of Houston from 1956 to 1959; an
assistant county attorney for Harris County from 1959 to 1961; practiced
law with Judge Bill Hatten from 1961 to 1970; was in private practice
before serving as justice of the peace precinct 1 in 1968, 1970, and
1973; was a judge at the Harris County Civil Court at Law No. 3 from
1973 to 1983; was a judge of the 129th District Court in Harris County
from 1983 to 1992; and was a visiting senior district judge until 2012.
Touchy was a member of the American, Houston, and Fort Bend County bar
associations; published legal articles in the Texas Law
Journal, the American Law Journal, and the American
Judicature Journal; and lectured at bar association legal
symposiums. He is remembered for his love of practicing law, his love of
serving as a judge, and being a lifelong practicing Catholic. Touchy is
survived by daughters, Patricia E. Cook and Cynthia F. Leatherwood;
sons, Stephen H. Touchy and Hugh P. Touchy; 12 grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
George Charles Adams
Adams, 83, of
Leander, died November 6, 2021. He received his law degree from Baylor
University and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1968. Adams worked for
the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for over 20 years and later was
in private practice in Round Rock. He was a man of faith and is
remembered as a man of his word and for having great character. Adams is
survived by his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Adams.
James Robert Bell
Bell, 80, of
Lawn, died October 4, 2020. He served in the U.S. Army in 1960. Bell
received his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law
and was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1995. He was a manager in the
patent department of the Corporate Patent Law Firm Federal Circuit Court
in 1982; a patent attorney with the U.S. Department of Commerce in
Washington, D.C., in 1973; patent attorney in the U.S. Court of Customs
and Patent Appeals in Washington, D.C., in 1976; corporate patent
counsel to Ingersoll-Rand Law Firm in Texas in 1991; and an attorney
with Haynes and Boone in Austin in 1999. Bell is remembered for his love
of aviation, owning two planes and flying since the mid-1960s. He is
survived by his wife of 52 years, Vanda Klus Bell; son, Jason C. Bell;
daughter, Amy B. Witt; sisters, Kathy and Susan; and two
grandchildren.TBJ
