State Bar of Texas Rules Vote
Texas lawyers have been called upon to exercise their right of self-governance by voting on proposed amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure. It has been a decade since the last vote. For nearly 25,000 attorneys that entered the practice since then, it will be their first opportunity to vote on disciplinary rule proposals. The ballot includes eight separate rule proposals, each addressing a specific subject. Voting will take place from February 2 to March 4, 2021, by paper and electronic ballot.
To be eligible to vote on the proposed amendments, an attorney must be an active member of the bar and in good standing. Questions about voting can be emailed to rulesvote@texasbar.com.
