Eduardo Canales was born and raised in Mexico City before attending the University of Texas at Austin for his undergraduate degree in economics and earning his JD from the University Of Illinois Urbana Champaign College Of Law. Eduardo works at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in Houston where he represents oil, gas and renewable energy companies in domestic and international transactions.
Eduardo is currently the vice chair for the Latinx firm resource group at his law firm where he works to incorporate and promote programs that provide development and growth opportunities for diverse attorneys. He also tries to give back to the community by representing pro bono clients in a wide variety of matters including domestic violence, asylum and non-profit corporate issues, and mentoring younger attorneys and law students through different programs.
Eduardo would consider it an honor to work with other TYLA members to create programs that (i) allow first generation students to learn about the legal profession and the opportunities it creates, and (ii) empower young attorneys to maximize their potential and become positive leaders in their communities.
