Celebrating a Milestone
A special viewing of the Texas Constitution, which was adopted 150 years ago

On February 15, 1876, Texas adopted a new state constitution—our state’s most important legal document. To commemorate the 150th anniversary of this milestone, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission will be displaying the 1876 Texas Constitution at the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building from February 2 to July 31, 2026. The commission graciously opened its doors for a special viewing of the constitution to the Supreme Court of Texas and the Texas Bar Journal staff as part of TBJ’s coverage of the anniversary.
