MY DECISION TO PURSUE A LEGAL CAREER WAS PROFOUNDLY INFLUENCED BY MY SERVICE IN THE U.S. MARINE CORPS FROM 2001 TO 2006. During this time, I observed how laws and legal frameworks impact every facet of our lives—from the rules of engagement in combat zones to the rights and protections afforded to service members and civilians alike. These experiences underscored the critical importance of understanding and upholding the law. After completing my military service, I was driven to become a lawyer to advocate for justice and ensure that individuals, especially those in vulnerable communities, have access to fair legal representation.

SPECIALIZING IN IMMIGRATION LAW WAS A NATURAL CHOICE, GIVEN MY BACKGROUND AND THE NEEDS OF MY COMMUNITY. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate the complex immigration system to achieve their dreams of a better life. The most rewarding aspect of this field is witnessing the transformative impact that legal assistance can have on families, enabling them to reunite and build stable futures together.

I ASPIRED TO SERVE AS A STATE BAR OF TEXAS DISTRICT DIRECTOR to advocate for attorneys in our region and ensure their voices are heard in shaping policies that impact our profession. It’s an opportunity to give back to the legal community that has supported me throughout my career.

SERVING AS A DISTRICT DIRECTOR HAS BROADENED MY PERSPECTIVE on the collaborative efforts required to uphold justice and ethical standards in our profession. I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for the varied challenges attorneys face statewide and the importance of unified leadership in addressing them.

STATE BAR OF TEXAS DIRECTORS MUST RECOGNIZE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO REPRESENT AND SERVE the interests of all attorneys in their district. This involves active listening, transparent communication, and making informed decisions that uphold the integrity of our legal system.

STATE BAR OF TEXAS DIRECTORS ARE IMPROVING THE LEGAL PROFESSION IN TEXAS by fostering open dialogue, promoting ethical practices, and implementing policies that reflect the evolving needs of our legal community. We aim to strengthen the profession. Our collective efforts strive to ensure that justice is accessible and that attorneys are supported in their vital roles.

I WOULD ADVISE NEW ATTORNEYS OR LAW STUDENTS TO SEEK MENTORSHIP AND NEVER STOP LEARNING. The legal profession is ever evolving, and staying informed is crucial. Building relationships with experienced attorneys can provide invaluable guidance and support as they navigate their careers.
