State Bar of Texas to host president-elect candidate forums
AUSTIN—The State Bar of Texas will host two live, virtual candidate forums for the 2023 president-elect race between Jerry Alexander, of Dallas, and Steve Benesh, of Austin.
The candidates will answer questions submitted by members of the State Bar from noon to 1 p.m. Central on March 10 and April 4 via Zoom webcast. Dallas attorney Rocky Dhir, host of the State Bar of Texas Podcast, will moderate the March 10 forum. The April 4 forum will be moderated by State Bar of Texas Immediate Past President Sylvia Borunda Firth and Immediate Past Board Chair Santos Vargas, who co-chair the Nominations and Elections Subcommittee of the State Bar Board of Directors.
Registration is required for each candidate forum. Texas lawyers can
register for the free events by visiting texasbar.com/elections and
clicking on the desired dates. The forums are not approved for
continuing legal education credit.
The State Bar is accepting questions for the candidates in advance by
email at webmaster@texasbar.com or
during the forums via the Zoom Q&A feature. If submitting questions
by email, members are asked to use the subject line “Questions
for the Candidates.”
Voting in the election will take place by paper and online ballot from April 3 to May 2. The winner of the race will serve as State Bar president-elect for a year before assuming the role as president from June 2024 to June 2025.
