State Bar announces winners of the 2021 Law Day awards
AUSTIN—Students from across the state have been named winners of the 2021 Law Day contest.
The annual competition hosted by the State Bar of Texas and Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) invites Texas students to submit essays, photographs, and posters on an aspect of the law, legal process, or civic tradition. Law Day is celebrated annually across the country on May 1.
This year’s theme is “Advancing the Rule of Law Now.” The rule of law is the bedrock of American rights and liberties and the 2021 theme serves to remind us that all people share the responsibility to promote the rule of law, defend liberty, and pursue justice. President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day in 1958 to challenge Americans to understand how the rule of law impacts their lives, and to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to participate in a democracy.
The contest winners, their schools, and the organizations that nominated them appear below. The winners also were honored by their local bar associations before advancing to the statewide competition. The winning entries can be viewed at texasbar.com/lawday.
