 State Bar of Texas to honor Dallas-area attorneys, judges,
and associations at Annual Meeting

AUSTIN — The State Bar of Texas will honor exceptional service to the public and the legal profession during its Annual Meeting on June 22 and 23 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.

The following Dallas-area individuals and associations are among those being honored:

  • Dallas Bar Association will receive a Star of Achievement Award for its Day of Civility program. The association will also receive an Award of Merit and an Outstanding Partnership Award for its Mural Project. The State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee will present both awards.

  • Dallas Women Lawyers Association and Dallas Association of Young Lawyers will receive a Star of Achievement Award from the State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee for their Mentoring Circles project.

  • Jones Day will receive the W. Frank Newton Award from the State Bar of Texas.

  • Dallas Hispanic Law Foundation will receive the Hispanic Organization of the Year Award from the State Bar of Texas Hispanic Issues Section.

  • Justice Elizabeth Lang Miers, of the 5th District Court of Appeals, will receive the Samuel Pessarra Outstanding Jurist Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation.

  • Justice James A. Moseley, of Gray, Reed & McGraw LLP, will receive the Distinguished Counselor Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Antitrust & Business Litigation Section.

  • State Rep. Roberto R. Alonzo will receive the Legislator of the Year Award from the State Bar of Texas Hispanic Issues Section.

  • Christina Melton Crain, of Christina Melton Crain P.C., will receive a Presidential Citation from the State Bar of Texas.

  • Michelle M. Alden, of the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, will receive the Pro Bono Coordinator Award from the State Bar of Texas.

  • Stephen W. Gwinn, of Suzanne I. Calvert & Associates, will receive the Nancy L. Garms Memorial Award from the State Bar of Texas Law-Related Education Department.

  • Hope Shimabuku, of the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, will receive the Champion of Diversity Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.

  • Pamela St. John, of AT&T Services Inc., will receive the Corporate Counsel Pro Bono Award from the Texas Access to Justice Commission.

  • Jerry Bullard, of Adams Lynch & Loftin P.C., will receive a Certificate of Merit from the State Bar of Texas.

  • Julie Pettit, of The Pettit Law Firm, will receive the Outstanding Young Lawyer of Texas Award from the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Timothy Newman, of Haynes and Boone, will receive the Outstanding First Year Director Award presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Britney Harrison Dieng, of Goranson Bain, PLLC, will receive the Keith L. Krueger Leadership Award presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Courtney Barksdale Perez, of Carter Scholer PLLC, will receive a TYLA President’s Award from the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Edward V. Smith III, of Stephens-Guthrie PLLC, will receive an Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award presented by the Texas Bar Foundation to attorneys whose practice spanned 50 years or more, and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.

  • H. Ron White, of Adorno Yoss White & Wiggins LLP, will receive an Outstanding Achievement Award presented by the State Bar of Texas African American Lawyers Section.

  • Judith W. Ross, of Judith Ross P.C., will receive the Michelle A. Mendez Award of Excellence presented by the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section.

  • Robin Phelan, of the Law Office of Robin Phelan, will receive the Banco Rotto Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section.

  • Lawrence R. Maxwell Jr., of the Law Office of Lawrence R. Maxwell Jr., will receive a service award from the State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Section.

  • Anne K. Shuttee, of the Law Office of Anne Shuttee, will receive a service award from the State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Section.

  • Ken Raggio, of Raggio & Raggio PLLC, and the Hon. Emily Miskel, of the 470th District Court, will receive the Joseph W. Knight Best Family Law CLE Article presented by the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section.

  • Charlie Hodges, of the Law Office of Charlie Hodges, will receive the Dan Price Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Family Law Section.

  • Shelly L. Skeen, of Blume Faulkner & Skeen PLLC, will receive the Judge Norman W. Black Award presented by the State Bar of Texas LGBT Law Section.

  • Meijken Westenskow, of Mosaic Family Services, will receive the Patrick Wiseman Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Individual Rights & Responsibilities Section.

  • Christopher K. Walter, of the Texas Workforce Commission, will receive the Judge Norman W. Black Award from the State Bar of Texas LGBT Section.

  • Thomas Allen, of Jones Day, will receive an Impact Award from the State Bar of Texas Poverty Law Section.

  • Ann M. Saegert, of Haynes and Boone LLP, will receive the Distinguished Texas Real Estate Attorney Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section.

  • Joey Cope, of Duncum Center Solutions, will receive the Frank Evans Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.
