 State Bar of Texas to honor Austin-area individuals and organizations
at Annual Meeting

AUSTIN — The State Bar of Texas will honor exceptional service to the public and the legal profession during its Annual Meeting on June 22 and 23 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas.
The following Austin-area individuals and organizations are among those being honored:

  • Austin Bar Association will receive an Outstanding Partnership Award for its Lawyers for Literacy Courthouse Book Drive and an Award of Merit, presented by the State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee.

  • Russell Munsch, founding partner of Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr PC, will be given posthumously the John C. Akard Community Service Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section.

  • Former Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson, of Alexander Dubose Jefferson & Townsend LLP, will receive an Impact Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Poverty Law Section.

  • Gregorio “Greg” Casar will receive a Liberty Bell Award from the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Jenny Smith, of Cobb & Counsel PLLC, will receive a TYLA President’s Award of Merit from the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Zachary Hall, of the Third Court of Appeals, will receive a TYLA President’s Award of Merit from the Texas Young Lawyers Association.

  • Bill Beardall, of the Equal Justice Center, will receive an Impact Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Poverty Law Section.

  • Lee Anne DiFilippo, of DiFilippo Holistic Law Center, will receive an Impact Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Poverty Law Section.

  • Eric Galton, of Lakeside Mediation Center, will receive a Frank Evans Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.

  • Gina Shishima, of Norton Rose Fulbright, will receive a Justice David Wellington Chew Award and a Champion of Diversity Award, both presented by the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.

  • Julie Allen will receive a Best Lawyers Under 40 award from the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.

  • Christine Hoang, of the Texas Education Agency, will receive a Best Lawyers Under 40 award from the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.

  • Hao Ni, of the University of Texas School of Law Criminal Defense Clinic, will receive a Best Lawyers Under 40 award from the State Bar of Texas Asian Pacific Interest Section.

  • Deborah Langehennig will receive a Pro Bono Service Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Bankruptcy Law Section.

  • P. Lindley Bain, of Goranson Bain PLLC, will receive a Service Award, presented by the State Bar of Texas Collaborative Law Section.

  • Manuel H. Newburger, of Barron & Newburger P.C., will receive a Richard Alderman Award for Continuing Legal Education Excellence presented by the State Bar of Texas Consumer & Commercial Law Section.

  • Manuel Escobar, of McGinnis Lochridge, will receive a Chair Award presented by the State Bar of Texas Hispanic Issues Section.
