  • Austin Bar Association, Star of Achievement for Austin Bar in Action’s Self-Represented Litigant Project, Outstanding Partnership Award for the Akins High School Legal Eagles Program, and Award of Merit. The Self-Represented Litigant Project was created in response to a mandate that all pro se litigants go to the Travis County Self Help Center before appearing in court. The program provides volunteer legal assistance for self-represented litigants in the uncontested civil docket. Through the Akins High School Legal Eagles Program, the Austin Bar assists Akins as the only high school in Central Texas that has an internship program focusing on pre-law studies. The program includes a courtroom for mock trial preparations and classes on courtroom procedure.
