David E. Chamberlain of Austin elected State Bar of Texas board chair
Austin attorney David E. Chamberlain was elected chair of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors during the board’s April 10 meeting in Bastrop. Chamberlain will take office during the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting to be held June 18-19 in San Antonio and will serve as chair until June 2016.
Chamberlain is the senior partner in the Austin civil trial firm of Chamberlain McHaney and is certified in personal injury trial law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He holds a B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington (1975) and a J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law (1978).
Chamberlain is the 2015 president of the Texas Chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates and is a former president of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (2005), the Austin Bar Association (2011-2012), and the Austin Young Lawyers Association (1987-1988).
Among his many awards, Chamberlain was honored in 2006 as the Outstanding Defense Bar Leader in the nation by DRI, an organization of defense attorneys and in-house counsel, and in 2013 he received a TexasBarCLE Standing Ovation Award for outstanding service in legal education. In 2014, Chamberlain received a State Bar of Texas Presidential Citation for his work in creating the Texas Bar Private Insurance Exchange, a multicarrier private insurance exchange for State Bar of Texas members and their staffs and dependents.
