Texas Bar Foundation funds State Bar of Texas Law Related
Education program
AUSTIN — The State Bar of Texas Law Related Education Department and
Law Focused Education, Inc. have received a $20,000 grant from the
Texas Bar Foundation to help fund their newest project, Justiceville,
USA.
Justiceville, USA will be a fun, engaging, and educational web-based
project to help students learn specific elementary and secondary
history, government, citizenship, and geography TEKS (Texas Essential
Knowledge and Skills) requirements.
The project is designed to advance students’ understanding of
the functions and purposes of government, the rights of citizens and
their civic responsibilities, the role of public officials and
authority figures, the importance of access to justice for all, the
meaning of the rule of law, examples of federalism, and interpretation
of map information.
The project will be available on all platforms, including tablets,
smartphones, and computers and will feature map roll-overs, pop-ups,
and challenge-based learning opportunities.
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded
more than $15 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by
members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the
nation’s largest charitably funded bar foundation.
The mission of the State Bar of Texas is to support the administration of the legal system, assure all citizens equal access to justice, foster high standards of ethical conduct for lawyers, enable its members to better serve their clients and the public, educate the public about the rule of law, and promote diversity in the administration of justice and the practice of law.
The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
