State Bar of Texas to honor Amarillo judge, attorney
AUSTIN — The State Bar of Texas will honor District Court Judge John B. Board and Amarillo attorney Mark S. Logsdon with resolutions for their contributions to the legal profession on Friday, April 25 in conjunction with its board of directors meeting in Amarillo.
Board has served as judge of the 181st State District Court in Potter and Randall counties since 2000, after working as a litigator. In October 2010, he was instrumental in creating a regional drug court program covering Potter, Randall, and Armstrong counties in an effort to reduce the number of drug and alcohol offenders who violate probation.
The program was an offshoot of Accountability Court, which Board helped to create in 2007 to address offenders who violated probation, often because of drug or alcohol problems.
The drug court has become known as a viable community corrections resource that works to produce sober, productive, and law-abiding citizens and to reduce recidivism.
Board is also a past member of the Texas Center for the Judiciary Board of Directors, where he worked to promote judicial excellence and professionalism.
Logsdon is a partner in Mullin Hoard Brown LLP in Amarillo, where his practice involves complex civil litigation. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Amarillo Area Bar Association, for which he is a past secretary and treasurer.
Logsdon is actively involved with the Amarillo Area Bar Association and Foundation’s Trial Academy, a trial-advocacy seminar for new or inexperienced lawyers focusing on jury selection and direct examination.
He is a past member of the Amarillo Area Young Lawyers Association, for which he served as a director for many years and as president from 2007-2008. He also has served on the Leadership Amarillo and Canyon Board of Directors from 2004-2008, including a year as president, and on the boards of the Amarillo Area Bar Foundation, the Amarillo College Foundation, and the Amarillo Hospital District.
