State Bar of Texas Names Linda Acevedo Chief Disciplinary Counsel

(Austin) - Linda Acevedo has been selected by the Commission for Lawyer Discipline and the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors to serve as Chief Disciplinary Counsel of the 88,000 member organization.

Acevedo has served in the Office of the Chief Disciplinary Counsel as first assistant, appellate counsel, trial counsel, corporate counsel, counsel to the local grievance committee, and liaison to the Supreme Court of Texas Professional Ethics Committee and Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. She has been with the State Bar of Texas since 1985 and is certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Acevedo earned a B.A. with honors from the University of Texas and a J.D. from the University of Texas Law School.

She replaces John Neal, who now serves as the First Assistant District Attorney in the Travis County District Attorney's Office. The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
