State Bar of Texas holds election April 1-30

AUSTIN — Texas attorneys will choose new leaders in an election beginning April 1. Voting will continue throughout the month, with results announced April 30.

By order of the Supreme Court of Texas, starting this year voting in State Bar of Texas elections will take place online only; attorneys should look for an email from the State Bar with voting instructions on April 1.

In the race for State Bar president-elect, attorneys will choose between Deborah L. Cordova, of Edinburg, and G. David Smith, of Rockwall. Members of the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) will also pick a president-elect, choosing between Ashton Barrineau Butcher, of Dallas, and Armin Salek, of Austin. The winners will begin their presidential terms in June 2026 and serve for one year.

Additionally, attorneys in some of districts of both the State Bar and TYLA will elect new members to their boards of directors. More information on the election and the candidates is available at texasbar.com/elections.
