2023 State Bar and TYLA Elections

Steve Benesh has been elected State Bar of Texas president-elect for 2023-2024. View the results. Hisham Masri has been elected TYLA president-elect for 2023-2024. View the results.

There will be a runoff in the TYLA election for District 17, as no candidate received more than 50% of the votes cast. The candidates will be Kyle McCardle and Jackson Willingham, both of Midland.

State Bar of Texas President-elect

The board voted to approve Jerry Alexander, of Dallas, and Steve Benesh, of Austin, as candidates for 2023-2024 State Bar president-elect. Alexander and Benesh will appear on the ballot in April 2023.

This year, the subcommittee considered candidates from any county in the state, in compliance with State Bar rules.

Nominations and Elections is a subcommittee of the State Bar board co-chaired by Immediate Past President Sylvia Borunda Firth and Immediate Past Board Chair Santos Vargas.

SBOT President-elect Virtual Candidate Forums: March 10 and April 4

State Bar of Texas president-elect candidates Jerry Alexander and Steve Benesh participated in live, virtual candidate forums on March 10 and April 4.

The candidate forums are not approved for CLE credit.

The Texas Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors voted to approve Cali Franks, of Dallas, and Hisham Masri, of Plano, as candidates for 2023-2024 TYLA president-elect.
