State Bar President-elect Nominees
The State Bar of Texas Board of Directors voted September 28, 2018, to approve the Nominations and Elections Subcommittee recommendation of Jeanne Cezanne “Cezy” Collins of El Paso and Larry P. McDougal Sr. of Richmond as candidates for 2019-2020 State Bar president-elect.
The subcommittee voted August 29, 2018, to recommend the nomination of Collins and McDougal after interviewing six potential nominees in Austin.
Collins and McDougal will appear on the ballot in April 2019 along with any certified petition candidates.
Potential candidates could begin collecting petition signatures on September 1, 2018, and have until March 1, 2019, to submit their nominating petitions to the State Bar for certification. For information on how to run for president-elect, go here.
This year, the subcommittee considered candidates from non-metropolitan counties (all counties except Bexar, Dallas, Harris, Tarrant, and Travis), according to State Bar rules. TYLA President-elect Candidates
The Texas Young Lawyers Association Board of Directors approved the nominations of Britney Harrison, of Dallas, and Tim Newman, of Dallas, as 2019-2020 president-elect candidates. This year, nominees for president-elect are from metropolitan counties. Biographies of the candidates are featured here. Votes for TYLA president-elect and district directors can be cast via paper ballot or by voting online from April 1-30. On April 1, attorneys eligible to vote will be mailed an election packet, including a paper ballot and campaign brochures. Attorneys may either submit their paper ballot via mail or vote online using the information provided. The deadline to cast ballots is 5 p.m. CST on April 30.
