Child Support Compliance

The responsibility of ensuring that an attorney makes child support lies with the attorney and is a matter between the attorney and the Texas Attorney General’s Office.

The State Bar of Texas is notified by a court order from an administrative or judicial court when an attorney is not in compliance and issues an administrative suspension of the attorney’s license.

Get contact information, details about how a law license is affected, and much more on the AG website at texasattorneygeneral.gov.

What Happens Next

When an attorney who has been suspended takes the necessary steps to rectify the suspension, the State Bar is notified by a court order.

The attorney must also request a reinstatement from the State Bar following a suspension.

Steps to Request Reinstatement

Mail reinstatement forms and a copy of the court order to:

State Bar of Texas
Membership Department
P.O. Box 12487
Austin, TX 78711

Once we receive the court order, it takes us 5 to 10 business days to process the paperwork.
