Continuing Legal Education Committee

Created in 1939

Purpose

To concern itself with monitoring the continuing legal educational needs of lawyers and other professionals, reviewing and making recommendations for any mandatory educational requirements for lawyers to maintain professional competence, and promoting appropriate educational programs through TexasBarCLE of the State Bar of Texas.

2019-2020 Projects and Objectives

  • Achieve the greatest possible educational outreach by continuing to provide high quality CLE and legal publications in a wide variety of formats, including webcasts and delivery through mobile electronic devices and apps

  • Review the video developed for speakers to ensure that effective teaching methods are deployed; monitor progress to ensure that best teaching practices are utilized

  • Monitor speakers to ensure that written materials are delivered timely and meet our quality standards

  • Continue to update the list of prospective speakers to ensure diversity among speakers; provide these lists to CLE planning committees

  • Committee members serve as liaisons in order to ensure that objectives are followed by CLE planning committees

  • Explore joint educational projects with other CLE and publishing organizations, including other sections of the State Bar and local bar associations

  • Review and update the technology resources webpage that is available to Bar members
