Administration of Rules of Evidence Committee

Created in 1983

Purpose

To monitor the Texas Rules of Evidence, receive and consider comments regarding the Rules, and proposes revisions to the Rules of Evidence and the statutes of Texas relating thereto.

2019-2020 Projects and Objectives

  • Consider making recommendations to the Supreme Court Advisory Committee regarding Rules 503(a)(5), 902(13), 902(14), and 803(16)

  • Collaborate on accountant privilege, allied litigant/work product in parallel or related cases, and the Dickenson case

  • Review the Texas Rules of Evidence to ensure applicability to technology and social media
