Student Loan Repayment Assistance Program

The State Bar of Texas encourages recent law school graduates to work for Texas legal aid organizations.

As such, the bar supports the Texas Access to Justice Foundation (TAJF)* in its efforts to provide student loan repayment assistance for nonprofit attorneys.

Guidelines in Brief

Recent law school graduates are eligible for loan repayment assistance through this program if they work full-time for any Texas organization that is:

  • a recipient of TAJF* funds;

  • a recipient of Legal Services Corporation funds; or

  • a Texas non-profit that provides civil legal services if at least 50 percent of the services provided are free to Texans whose income is 175 percent of federal poverty guidelines, or less

The program is administered by the Student Loan Repayment Assistance Program (SLRAP) at the State Bar.
