Bono Survey
Created in 1992 by the State Bar of Texas, the Pro Bono College recognizes
those attorneys who have far exceeded the State Bar's aspirational pro bono
goal in their efforts to address the vast unmet legal needs of the poor
by providing a significant number of hours of eligible pro bono service
during the previous year.
The State Bar of Texas created an Associate Membership in the Pro Bono College
recognizing the achievements of Texas paralegals in pro bono service.
Paralegals may join the Pro Bono College as an associate member
if they have performed a minimum of 50 hours of eligible pro bono services
in addition to their normal work hours, without compensation, as
stated in the membership requirements.
Legal services staff attorneys may join the Pro Bono College if
they have performed a minimum of 75 hours of eligible pro bono services
in addition to their normal work hours, without compensation, as
stated in the membership requirements.
To apply, attorneys should complete the Pro Bono College Application for
New or Renewed Members and paralegals should complete the Pro Bono College
Application for Associate Membership. The application period for the Pro
Bono College begins June 1 and ends December 1. Membership must be renewed
annually to remain an active member of the Pro Bono College. See applications
and guidelines below.
