Local Bar ServicesThe State Bar Local Bar Services department works with the
Local Bar Services Committee to establish a close relationship with all
of the local bar associations and special purpose bars throughout Texas.
Local Bar Services offers assistance in planning and implementing programs
that further the legal profession's involvement in public service and to
improve the legal profession's standing with the public at large. The Local
Bar Services Committee provides services to bar associations through the
annual Bar Leaders Conference, maintaining databases on the local bars
and their officers, and collecting and disseminating information on worthwhile
projects which can be replicated by other local bar associations. 2009 Bar Leaders Conference

Law Day The State Bar of Texas commemorated Lincoln's Bicentennial
by honoring his Legacy of Liberty on Law Day, May 1st, 2009 at the
Texas Law Center. Students from around the state participated in their local
bar association's Law Day contest. Categories for the contests included
editorials, photos and posters of the role of law in fulfilling the promises
of the Declaration of Independence for all. All first place winners from
each category were submitted to the State Bar for the statewide competition.
