Proposed Disciplinary Rules Changes
With an Oct. 20, 2009, order (pdf), The Supreme Court of Texas began the public comment process for proposed changes to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct. Details are in the November 2009 Texas Bar Journal. Download the redlined version of the proposed changes

Candidates Sought for Capital Writs Committee
State Bar President Roland Johnson is making appointments to the Capital Writs Committee, which was created in the recent legislative session. The five-member committee will include three Texas lawyers with criminal defense experience in death penalty proceedings who are not prosecutors or law enforcement officials, and two state district judges, one of whom is presiding judge of a judicial administrative region. After The Bar Exam
State Bar President Roland Johnson launched AfterTheBarExam.com, with resources for law graduates who have taken the bar exam and are awaiting their results. Participants should complete online coursework by Nov. 6, 2009. Another new program, Transition to Practice, is a mentoring program for new lawyers (pdf materials) based on a program by the Dallas Bar Association.
