Who are the chairs and members of each committee?
Committees are comprised of attorneys, judges and public members.
Each committee's members and terms of service can be viewed here or at www.texasbar.com/committees.
How can I apply to be a member of a committee?
Applications are accepted throughout the year via the Committee
Interest Form link here or at www.texasbar.com/committees. To be considered
for the following bar year (Annual Meeting through Annual Meeting), please
submit your interest prior to December 4.
How long is a member’s term?
Typically, a regular Member position is a three year term.
Chair and Vice Chair positions are a one year term. Advisory Member
positions are a one year term. If you are a member and are unsure
of your term end, view the Committee Membership roster or contact the Committees Coordinator for
detailed information.
How can I update my information online with the State Bar of
Texas?
Updates to employer, address, phone, fax, and email can be made
at MyBarPage at www.texasbar.com. If you are unable to access this page, choose
Membership Department in the Quick Links sections of our homepage.
There, forms can be found to make these updates.
Where can I obtain a Reimbursement Request Form for the committee
meeting I recently attended? To whom should I send it?
The State Bar reimburses reasonable meeting travel expenses.
You may download a Reimbursement Request and view Reimbursement Guidelines by clicking on the document
names. Mail your request with original receipts to either your committee
staff liaison or to the Committees Department at: P.O. Box 12487 Austin,
TX 78711-2487 within 45 days of the meeting.
I would like to know more about a committee, but I do not see
the committee listed on this website.
This Committees page describes Special and Standing Committees
of the State Bar, as part of the State Bar’s Board Policy. Many
other committees exist through the Board of Directors, Chief Disciplinary
Counsel, Sections, Local Bars, and other state agencies. If you cannot

What types of projects are the committees working on?
Each committee’s purpose is different. In order to achieve
their specific goals, committees suggest rule revisions, recognize outstanding
attorneys and public members, promote diversity in the profession, develop
policy initiatives, educate attorneys and the public, publish books videos,
and other ongoing projects. For specific committee projects, view
the Annual Objectives Report or Year End Report at www.texasbar.com/committees.
How long can a member serve?
According to Board Policy, a member can serve up to two consecutive
three year terms.
