Texas Lawyers' Auxiliary 2008-2009
The organization, consisting of representatives from local auxiliaries
statewide, is dedicated to the following missions:
- To support the State Bar of Texas and the Texas legal profession.
- To promote an understanding and appreciation of the American legal system.
- To promote law-related education, citizenship, and public service.
25th Anniversary
We are proud to announce that 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the
Texas Lawyers’ Auxiliary. Our anniversary year began with TLA’s
Spring Meeting in Austin on March 2, 2009. TLA members and a few brave
spouses gathered in downtown Austin at Moonshine, a well-known Austin restaurant,
for an evening of fun and friendship.

The Texas Lawyers’ Auxiliary participated in the State Bar Annual
Meeting, June 25th and 26th at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. TLA members
were the official hostesses for Thursday’s luncheon, featuring David
Brooks of The New Yorker. At the State Bar Annual Meeting,
we honored this year’s TLA Teacher of the Year Award (please see below
for details) Recipient for outstanding achievement in government and law-related
education. We also officially installed the new officers for the upcoming
2009-2010 anniversary year.

Teacher of the Year Award
Recognizing the vital role that teachers play in law-related education,
the Auxiliary is sponsoring its first Teacher of the Year Award. This award
will honor public and private high school teachers in the State of Texas
who have made significant contributions in law-related education, developing
and supporting programs which enhance awareness of legal rights and the
American legal system. Candidates may be nominated by teachers or principals.
