Ken Fuller accepts the Family Law Section Pro Bono Award at the Advanced Family Law Course in Dallas, August 8, 2005.
On Monday August 8, 2005, the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas presented its new award for outstanding pro bono contributions to Kenneth D. Fuller of Dallas.

Fuller has practiced in Dallas for over fifty years, and his contributions to family law are nationally recognized.  He is a former recipient of the Sam Emison Award, presented annually by  the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists in recognition of a career devoted to the improvement of the practice of family law.  Fuller also received the State Bar of Texas Frank J. Scurlock Award for his pro bono work in 2004.  Because of his significant contributions, he has been inducted into the Family Law Section’s Hall of Legends.

Shortly after his retirement in 1992, Fuller began working in the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, both mentoring lawyers in the program and handling divorce and other family law matters for low income clients.  He volunteers between 750 and 800 hours per year for the program, and he was named its 2003 Lawyer of the Year.

In honor of Mr. Fuller’s contribution to family law over his lifetime and his outstanding contributions to pro bono, the Family Law Section has named its new annual award the Kenneth D. Fuller Award for Outstanding Pro Bono Contributions.  The award will be presented each year to a Family Law Section member who has devoted significant time to attending to the needs of low income clients.

In further recognition of his contributions, Mr. Fuller’s namesake law firm, Koons, Fuller, Vanden Eykel & Robertson, has donated a scholarship to the Advanced Family Law Course for each year’s recipient.
