Joe Shannon, Jr.
Immediate Past Chair of the Board, State Bar of Texas
Biography

Joe Shannon, Jr. of Fort Worth serves as chief of the Economic Crime Unit in the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. He was a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1964 to 1971.

An adjunct professor at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, he is also a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Tarrant County Bar Foundation.

Shannon previously served as president of the Tarrant County Bar Association, the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association, and on the Family Law Advisory Committee of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He is a member of the Texas District and County Attorneys Association.

He has practiced in the areas of criminal defense, prosecution, personal injury, insurance defense, family law and commercial litigation, and is a certified matrimonial arbitrator.

He earned a B.A. from the University of Texas and his L.L.B. from the University of Texas School of Law.
