Free Legal Research
and Fastcase: Free online legal research is available to all Texas
attorneys. Casemaker includes case law from all 50 states and expanded
federal libraries, in addition to Casecheck+, CiteCheck, and Casemaker
Digest. Fastcase includes opinions of the Supreme Court of Texas and
courts of appeal back to 1 Tex. 1 (1846), U.S. Supreme Court opinions
back to 1 U.S. 1,the Texas Constitution, and 70 other Texas-specific
legal research libraries.
Member Discounts: Bar members are entitled to discounts on products and services including car rental, clothing, computer hardware and software, delivery services, office supplies, and many more merchant discounts.
Free Online CLE Classes and Articles: TexasBarCLE offers free CLE classes six times per year for MCLE credit. Members also have access to a number of free CLE articles from the TexasBarCLE online library.
Ten Minute Mentor: An online collection of free instructional videos from leading lawyers in their areas of expertise.
Law Practice Management Program: This program offers a number of free resources for attorneys who need advice on starting and maintaining a practice. Other resources include online classes, a self-assessment tool, product reviews, 'how to' brochures, and more.
Contingency Planning for Closing a Law
An attorney’s illness, incapacity, or even suspension due to misconduct, can result in the temporary or permanent closure of a practice. Your law firm needs a contingency plan in case this happens.
Texas Lawyers' Assistance Program (TLAP): TLAP provides for the identification, peer intervention, and rehabilitation of any Texas attorney or law student whose professional performance is impaired because of substance abuse, dependency, or mental health disorders.
