New Lawyer Oath and Fees

Congratulations on becoming a new member of the State Bar of Texas. If you have not submitted your registration by mail, please complete your registration online.

When you receive your new license, it is required that you take the oath of office. After the oath is taken, attach the oath to the reverse side of your license.

Any person in the limits of the United States who is authorized to administer an oath may swear you in. For more details please see Government Code Chapter 602.

New Lawyer Induction Ceremony on May 11, 2015

If you plan to attend the New Lawyer Induction Ceremony on May 11 at the Frank Erwin Center, please note that construction has begun on the realignment of Red River St. for the Dell Medical School Project, which has affected access to the Frank Erwin Center, traffic, and parking. Red River St. is closed from 15th St. to Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Blvd.

Parking for the New Lawyer Induction:

  • Lot 118 directly north of the Frank Erwin Center. You can access that lot off of the southbound frontage road of I- 35. The fee for this lot is $12.
  • Trinity Garage at the corner of Trinity St. and MLK Blvd. You can access the garage on MLK Blvd. The fee is based upon time and can be in the range of $9-$12.
  • Capitol Visitors Garage on San Jacinto St. between Trinity and San Jacinto at 12th and 13th streets. Parking is free for the first two hours and $1 for each half-hour thereafter (maximum daily charge: $8).
