The Public Information Department provides support to State Bar departments
and projects that facilitate the public's understanding of the legal profession.
This includes coordinating communication efforts with the media, members,
and the public.
The department sends news
releases on State Bar projects, programs, and people; maintains
a newspaper clipping file on legal issues; and helps answer questions and
requests from the media.
An array of pamphlets and videos are distributed by the department to
provide helpful
legal information to the public.
The State Bar Public Affairs Committee oversees the Texas
Gavel Awards (pdf file) program for Texas media, and has revised
the program for 2006.
