State Bar Past Presidents
Since its founding in 1939, the State Bar of Texas has been guided by the leadership of a President, elected every year by members of the Bar. The President serves on the Board of Directors, as an officer of the Bar. The first President, Angus G. Wynne, Sr., was elected the 59th President of the voluntary Texas Bar Association in 1939; but when the State Bar Act became law in 1940, he became the first President of the new State Bar of Texas. Many distinguished women and men have served the Bar.
