State Bar of Texas Deputy Executive Director Kelley Jones King Earns National Honor

AUSTIN – Kelley Jones King, deputy executive director of the State Bar of Texas, has received the E.A. “Wally” Richter Leadership Award from the National Association of Bar Executives (NABE) Communications Section. The award was presented at the NABE Communications annual conference on October 12 in Denver.

The Richter Award is the section’s highest honor and is presented for outstanding achievement in the field of communications, extraordinary service to NABE colleagues, and distinguished leadership within the NABE Communications Section.

King has served for years on the group’s leadership council, chaired the section in 2010-11, and has been a planner and speaker for numerous NABE programs. Under her direction, the State Bar of Texas has become known nationally as a leader and innovator in bar association communications.

A 28-year veteran of the State Bar of Texas, King has served as managing editor of the Texas Bar Journal, communications division director and deputy executive director. She is a graduate of Baylor University and of the Texas Governor’s Executive Development Program.

King lives in Pflugerville with her husband Eddie and daughters Michelle and Lauren.

NABE, an independent, not-for-profit organization, was founded in 1941 to serve the professional staff of bar associations and law-related organizations throughout the nation.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas. The Bar provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
