Texas Minority Counsel Program Attracts Hundreds of Legal Professionals to Austin

AUSTIN – The State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs will present the 19th annual Texas Minority Counsel Program, “Inclusion: Is There an App for That?” Sept. 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency Austin and Hyatt Regency Lost Pines.

The event, expected to attract 500 attendees, will provide informational interviewing opportunities, networking, client development and continuing legal education for minority and women lawyers and in-house and outside counsel. Visit www.texasbar.com/TMCP for more information.

In addition to a stellar speaker lineup, the Corporate Counsel of the Year Award will be presented to the individual who has done the most to open doors for Texas minority and women attorneys by promoting diversity within his or her department or company, and by consistently hiring minority and/or women attorneys in private practice to perform legal work on behalf of the company.

The inaugural Trailblazer Outside Counsel of the Year Award will be presented to the individual who has done the most to effectuate the promotion of diversity within the legal profession through hiring, retention and mentoring of minority and women attorneys, partnering with minority-owned and women-owned law firms, and involvement with Bar and/or community activities designed to promote diversity within the legal profession.

The Texas Minority Counsel Program was created in 1993 with the mission of increasing opportunities for minority and women attorneys who provide legal services to corporate and government clients, and to expose those organizations to top legal talent.

The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas. The Bar provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
