Dallas Individuals and Organizations Honored by State Bar of Texas

DALLAS – Presentation of awards honoring exceptional service to the public and the legal profession will be a highlight of the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting, to be held June 20-21 at the Hilton Anatole.

The following Dallas individuals and organizations are among those being honored:

Beverly Godbey, Presidential Citation, for her hard work and inspiration in producing an exception Annual Meeting and for her continued guidance as Immediate Past Chair of the Board

Vincent Perini, Presidential Citation, for his vision of what a continuing legal education course for the State Bar could be

Frank Stevenson, Presidential Citation, for his leadership and hard work as Chair of the Board

Robert Witte, Presidential Citation, for his hard work and inspiration in producing an exceptional Annual Meeting

John McCaa, Honorary Leon Jaworski Award for Teaching Excellence, presented by the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors. This award recognizes educators who have made an outstanding contribution to law-focused education and whose programs foster understanding of the values of our legal and judicial systems.

Peter S. Vogel, Gene Cavin Award, presented by the State Bar of Texas in the area of continuing legal education. This award is presented to the person who has made substantial contributions to the State Bar CLE program.

Nina Cortell, Chief Justice Jack Pope Award, presented by the Texas Center for Legal Ethics

Dallas Bar Association, Award of Merit

Michelle Reed, Frank J. Scurlock Award, presented by the State Bar of Texas Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters Committee. This award honors an individual attorney who has provided outstanding pro bono work.

Hon. James M. “Jay” Patterson, Judge Merrill Hartman Pro Bono Judge Award, presented by the State Bar of Texas Legal Services to the Poor in Civil Matters Committee. This award honors a judge who has provided exemplary pro bono service.

Brittany K. Byrd, Outstanding Young Lawyer of Texas Award, presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA)

Hon. Harlin D. “Cooter” Hale, Outstanding Mentor Award, presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA)

Lacy L. Durham and Zeke Fortenberry, President’s Award of Merit, presented by the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA)

John G. Browning, Dan Rugeley Price Award, presented by the Texas Bar Foundation. This award honors an attorney who serves the profession as a volunteer and legal scholar while also actively practicing law, and who exhibits dedication to service to the public and to the Bar.

George C. Chapman and Alan D. Feld, Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award, presented by the Texas Bar Foundation. This award recognizes attorneys whose practice spans 50 years or more, and who adhere to the highest principles and traditions of the legal profession and service to the public.

Josiah M. Daniel, III, Outstanding Law Review Article, presented by the Texas Bar Foundation

Curtis L. Frisbie Jr., Distinguished Counselor Award, presented by the Antitrust and Business Litigation Section

Hon. Sam A. Lindsay, Distinguished Jurist Award, presented by the African-American Lawyers Section

Michele Wong Krause, Justice David Wellington Chew Award, presented by the Asian Pacific Interest Section

Albert S. “Bert” Conly, Outstanding Service Award, presented by the Bankruptcy Law Section

Mark Frenkel, Richard Alderman Award for CLE Excellence, presented by the Consumer & Commercial Law Section

Rosa Rodríguez Orenstein, Reynaldo G. Garza Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Hispanic Issues Section

Eugenia S. Hansen, Tom Arnold Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Intellectual Property Law Section

Cecelia R. Cox, Judge Norman W. Black Award, presented by the LGBT Law Section

George W. Bramblett Jr., Luther H. Soules Award for Excellence in Litigation, presented by the Litigation Section

Stephen R. Akers, Distinguished Texas Probate Attorney Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section

Charles W. “Charlie” Spencer, Distinguished Texas Real Estate Attorney Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law Section

Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, Louise B. Raggio Award, presented by the Women and the Law Section
