Texas Lawyers for Texas Veterans is a major initiative of State Bar of Texas President Terry Tottenham, a former Marine. Working through local bar associations and veterans service providers, the program assists military veterans who otherwise cannot afford or do not have access to the legal services they need.
“Veterans face many hardships when they return from war,” said Tottenham. “They may have family law issues, landlord/tenant disputes, or financial struggles. They may suffer from the mental and physical stresses of combat. We want to help ease their transition. We are partnering with veterans groups, mental health professionals, and government agencies to ensure that those who volunteered to defend our nation have access to the care and resources they deserve.”

The program is made possible through a generous grant by the Texas Bar Foundation, the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
The State Bar of Texas is an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Texas that provides educational programs for the legal profession and the public, administers the minimum continuing legal education program for attorneys, and manages the attorney discipline system.
