Pro Bono Training and Events

  • Pro Bono Coordinators Retreat: This two-day event provides valuable training on increasing the quantity and quality of legal services available to the poor through pro bono efforts.
  • Poverty Law Conference: Learn about the latest developments in civil law. This three-day event provides valuable training on poverty law issues affecting low-income and poor Texans.
  • Remote Access Webinar (Windows Media format): This webinar focuses on how remote access technologies can help poverty law advocates find creative solutions to on-going problems including: serving the rural client, the disabled client, or other clients who cannot travel to a legal services office; attracting busy private attorneys to take new pro bono cases; providing on-the-spot legal services to a community after a disaster strikes; and helping attorneys more effectively manage their caseloads.

Pro Bono Coordinators Retreat - September 11-13, 2013

We are very excited to bring you this year’s Pro Bono Coordinators Retreat!  There will be a special session Thursday morning that we hope you are able to attend:

Walk a Month in My Shoes: Poverty Simulation

In this interactive workshop, you will experience first-hand the challenges faced by those living in low-income communities. Over four 15-minute “weeks,” you must get to work, pay your bills, feed your families, and respond to unexpected challenges. Afterwards, we will discuss the impact of what you experienced on your legal services work and the perspective we have gained by walking a month in our clients’ shoes.
